Creative Thursdays

Jennifer Geldard blogged today about Creative Thursdays. I like the idea so much I'm going to attempt to make it a regular thing. Check out Jennifers blog her paintings are very cool!

I've been working on beads for a piece for a local fine arts show and I am really thrilled with the colour combination above. It's Lauscha milky way and buckthorn with some silver and opaque turquoise. It's rare for me to get hung up in colour palette's but I have been making these for days. I see them with some chunky silver links and maybe an eclectic piece, different shaped links with random spaced beads.

Tiny bit of snow

We had a small amount of snow this weekend, it snowed all day yesterday but since it was +2 it didn't stick (insert sad face). I was hoping we'd get a couple inches but as of this morning there is only 1/4 inch on the ground.

The nice thing about all the rain and horrid weather we've been having is I've been bead making a lot. I have some new inventory for the Vancouver Island Bead show this coming weekend.

Beep is working towards the cat Olympics

Beep our recent arrival seems to be determined to get into the cat Olympics, or drive me crazy. He's started with a bobsled track down the stairs using the throw rug as a sled, the hard wood gives him a greta sliding surface before lift off happens down the stairs.

Hard to get mad at him with a face that cute!

Watercolour Tree

I'm trying to be more diligent about blogging and listing new items in my Etsy shop, "trying" being the key word there.

This is one of the tree beads I did from a colour challenge palette. Watercolour Tree is now listed in my etsy shop.

Silversmithing For Beadmakers at 2014 Gathering

The 2014 Gathering will be in Houston Texas this year and I am very excited to be teaching there!

I'll be teaching Silversmithing for Beadmakers on July 16th. Students will learn to bezel set a cabochon into a pendant (students have the option to stamp the backside) and make a riveted bead ring. This class is designed to give bead makers the skills to set their beads into silver pieces, something very useful when it comes to applying for gallery shows.

I've worked very hard to make sure this class will be fun and informative. Lots of skills will be covered and notes will be provided. I am really looking forward to this class! Feel free to contact me with any questions nvalentinestudio@gmail.com Class registration should be up on the ISGB website at the end of Feb.
